My husband and I spend our first Christmas in South Carolina! I was able to visit my family last week, while my husband still had to work; and his family will be coming up in 2 weeks to visit with us. In the past we have always spent our Christmas rushing from town to town, house to house to see everyone….of course we loved every minute of it, but it was a LOT of driving. We decided to not spend our whole break driving, since we had a great time during Thanksgiving just relaxing and enjoying our new town.
Christmas Eve began with Cubans for lunch! My grandparents on my Dad’s side, always had Cubans and Spanish bean soup for Christmas Eve Dinner. It was an easy meal where we would serve ourselves and truly enjoy each others company! And my grandma was not stuck in the kitchen the whole time. Instead of having it for dinner, we ate it for lunch! we are trying to begin new traditions, joining some from both sides!
We then laid around and cleaned before it was time to head to church. We left 45 minutes early, and we still were standing in the lobby! But it was okay, we were surrounded by super cute kids dressed in their holiday best!
We came back and I cooked an easy Christmas Eve dinner:) Just for the 2 of us.
We then got to baking! We made Christmas Cookies, and Cranberry Granola Bars for our Christmas Breakfast.
We then decided on Miracle on 34th Street, and cuddled on the couch! It hasn’t been too cold here, but we don’t run the heater unless it’s in the 30’s, so it can get pretty chilly.
Here are some pictures from the next morning!
Well I better get to running to fill my medal holder up:) Merry Christmas everyone! Hope you were able to spend time with your families and loved ones! We were blessed to be able to talk to family on the phone and through video chat. It makes being away from home, not so bad:)
