Krypto has been doing great! He is most likely in remission, even though he still has 16 weeks of treatment left. Once the treatment is finished, they will diagnose him as being in remission, and then we will play the “wait and see” game. We are struggling with this, because we have no idea how it is going to be. We don’t want to stop our lives, but we definitely will be focusing on more time with just the three of us as much as possible. We are told it could be 2 weeks or 3 years before it comes back. When it comes back for the second time, we will have to go with a less aggressive type of drug.
Anywho, he has no idea he has cancer! He is loving life, and loving the extra treats we give him. We kind of let him do whatever he wants…..I imagine it being like having a child who has cancer. If he wants to stay up late, or go for a walk late at night, we let him do it. We don’t get annoyed anymore.
I was going through my camera and found these pictures of the last few weeks before we found out. And then the picture on the day our lives changed. My heart breaks when looking at these, but I started this blog to document our life, so I wanted to post these so I always have them.
It’s funny because this party was on December 7th and Krypto went around eating a bunch of peoples foods. The week after I took him to the vet for throwing up and getting sick. Was told nothing was wrong, and just left it at that. Well when he slowly started to lose his appetite I had people telling me its because he ate party food. I can’t tell you how annoying that felt. I have since realized, when someone’s pet or child is acting weird, it is not your place to make assumptions. It just adds to the uneasiness that something terrible is wrong, and no one wants to cause that type of stress to the parent.
The picture above is ultimately what made me have a freak out moment. We gave him a stocking with a ton of treats in it. He could care less. He was mopey, and didn’t want any of his gifts. If you remember, I was sick as well so we lounged around until about 6pm, when we made the decision to take him in.
And this is Krypto with his favorite person besides his parents:)
